What does a Social Security Disability Insurance attorney do?

What does a Social Security Disability Insurance attorney do?

On Behalf of Robyn M. Rebers LLC | Oct 22, 2020 | Social Security Disability Insurance |

Applying for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits seems like something that an applicant can do independently. Unfortunately, earning SSDI benefits is more complicated than filling out some forms and submitting them.

The process for receiving SSDI benefits is notoriously difficult because the Social Security Administration (SSA) denies almost 70% of initial applications. If earning SSDI benefits is so hard, what is it that an SSDI attorney can do better than an applicant?

What an attorney can do for you

One of the main advantages an attorney has in earning SSDI benefits is their experience. Lawyers have years of experience, whereas applicants are likely facing this process for the first time. Lawyers know what it takes to earn this essential income because they have helped clients do it time and time again.

One of the main reasons the SSA denies applications is because of a lack of information. Your lawyer can help you complete your application to its fullest and reduce the chances of the SSA needing additional information at a later time. An experienced attorney can also help you collect all the supporting evidence you need in your application, like doctors’ notes and other medical records.

Attorneys can also do more than help submit the paperwork. They can represent you at hearings to help you earn your benefits. If the SSA denies your claim after your application and hearing testimony, then an experienced SSDI lawyer can also help you appeal the denial to continue pursuing the income you need.

You do not have to do this alone

Earning SSDI benefits is never easy. You can make it easier with the help of a dedicated attorney at your side. Do not start your application on the wrong foot, and make sure you have the guidance of a compassionate attorney at your side.
